Staying at La Joya II Biu-Biu Resort & Spa in Bali

When I think back to my time in Bali the most vivid memories of that trip aren’t just moments, they are feelings. Bali isn’t just a place it is an experience, a state of mind and a way of being.

The very first stop of our Bali buffet was the Uluwatu/Jimbaran area. Originally we we’re to stay at Biu-Biu for two nights and then move to the next city but we loved it so much we extended our stay. Here’s what it was like staying at La Joya II Biu-Biu Spa & Resort!

Getting There

Arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport (also known as Denpasar International) you can either take a cab to your destination or arrange a shuttle provided by Biu-Biu in advance for a nominal fee. The ride from the airport is around eleven miles through the lush forests of Bali before arriving at the resorts stunning cliff-top location.

The Resort

La Joya II Biu-Biu is the twin sister of La Joya and they are about a ten-minute walk from each other. Both of these are a treat to experience but our time was spent at Biu-Biu.

Biu-Biu is a boutique resort that doesn’t offer rooms but instead something more like bungalows and lodges. Each of these are free-standing huts that provide you with a sense of privacy and independence.

Each of the bungalows are accompanied by a private garden and a unique design. Some are made with coconut wood, shipwreck timber, thatch roofing, locally sourced limestone and decorated with local art, sculpture and carvings.

With the resort being so intimate, the mood constantly remains serene and without the hustle of through traffic.

The Spa

The spa area is a covered, private deck completely outside with 180 degree ocean views. Also known as paradise.

Yoga classes are offered here at the beginning of each day and I highly recommend joining a class at least once. I’ve done a lot of yoga in my day but never in such an incredible location. It was the perfect way to start the day!

At the spa you also have almost every kind of massage available to you including aromatherapy, deep tissue, hot stone, reflexology, etc. After yoga and breakfast why not top off the perfect morning with a massage as well?!

The Food

There is one on-premises restaurant at La Joya II Biu-Biu and it is called “The View.” Here you’ll find a mix of Mediterranean and Indonesian fare with views of the Indian Ocean. It’s a chic and casual atmosphere with impeccable service.

Breakfast is included in your stay at Biu-Biu. Located at “The View” restaurant you can order everything from exotic fruit platters, omelets, breadbaskets, coffee, juices and more.

The pool bar is where you can get a glass of wine or a freshly made exotic fruit cocktail. Upon arrival we were greeted with a beautiful glass of blended fruit that was so yummy! They won me over quick 😉

Activities

Biu-Biu has a stunning three-tier infinity pool that looks into the ocean. It was hard to tear myself away from it! This is the perfect place to read in the morning or get a tan with a drink in hand.

Also located on property is a secret, private beach. Yes, that’s right, secret private beach. Gasp! My best friend and I enjoyed an afternoon down there (you’ve got to hike down the cliffs to reach it) by ourselves playing in the tide pools, drawing in the sand and sipping coconuts.

The resort also hosts fun events like “Sunday Beats” which are percussion and saxophone concerts on Sundays as well as barbeque nights and happy hour!

Location

The stunning expanse of La Joya II Biu-Biu has everything you need for an incredible vacation but with Uluwatu awaiting your visit you’re going to want adventure off premises!

Biu-Biu’s location makes it easy to see all that Uluwatu and Jimbaran have to offer.

We decided to hire a driver for the few days that we were there. He took us to see many of the hot spots surrounding us including Padang Padang Beach, Suluban Beach, Uluwatu Beach, Uluwatu Temple & fire ceremony, AYANA resorts Rock Bar and a popular spot to grab a drink called Single Fin.

It isn’t difficult to get around Bali and Biu-Biu’s location makes it easy to explore Uluwatu. The resort is also happy to help you book transportation and a tour to most places.

The attentive and kind staff, breath taking views, carefully crafted accommodation, peaceful atmosphere and unique offerings of La Joya II Biu-Biu are what makes this paradise feel like a home of your own in Bali.
