Picture this… You wake up and take a goat yoga class (yes, yoga WITH GOATS!), bask in the sun at a desert pool party, enjoy a cookie butter ice cream cone as you walk into one of the worlds biggest music festivals and once you’ve danced your heart out all night, all you have to do is walk back to your air-conditioned RV and sleep. THAT is camp EDC!
If you’re not familiar with Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, then here’s the run down – A three-night, desert dance party from sundown to sunup with music, live art, rides, incredible fireworks and 400,000 attendees. It rocks.
2018 was the first year camping was offered at EDC and, boy, was it a game changer! I’ve been an avid participant for years and the most daunting part of the festival is getting to and from the festival grounds via long shuttle lines and rides.
Not this year! Camp EDC made accommodations fun and painless as well as added a whole new aspect to this annual weekend representing dance music culture.
*Camping Options*
You’ve got two options in regards to camping: RV or tent. Take a closer look at the options below to find out which of the two best suits you and your groupies!
-RV-
Drive your own RV on site and all you’re required to pay for is the RV spot that you reserve. Camp EDC offers power hook ups, RV water refills and pump outs for an extra charge. Be sure to check out the RV guidelines to assure your RV has everything required to enter the camp. You can find those guidelines here!
PROS
- Hassle-free drive into campsite
- In accordance with Camp EDC rules, up to 8 people can stay in one RV (lowers the cost of accommodation)
- Shower in your own space & avoid long public shower lines
- You have the luxuries of a kitchen: fridge, stove, microwave
CONS
- Depending on arrival time, potential long entry lines as RV’s undergo security inspection
- Must be conscious about water consumption or be willing to pay for water refills
- Must be conscious of grey/black water levels and sewage levels
RV camping was the route that my friends and I chose and, seriously, it was a BLAST! We loved having our own space, a place to cook, shower and driving all of our things into the camp (as opposed to carrying it to a tent) was completely hassle-free. Our RV neighbors were constantly playing music, games, socializing and it was so fun to be part of a community of people hanging out and enjoying the weekend!
-TENT-
Two to four people tents known as “ShiftPod’s” are offered and are fully equipped with air conditioning, power ports and lights. Depending on what package you purchase the bedding may or may not be provided, but for both options free public shower facilities are available.
PROS
- You don’t have to be mindful of water or sewage levels
- Intimate space – perfect for two people if your party size is small
CONS
- You have to carry personal items from parking area to your tent
- Unless you purchase the premium tent package you have to bring all of your bedding.
- Public showers
- No kitchen
- No fridge
Some of my friends were staying in a ShiftPod so I popped inside to check it out and they are SO cool! These aren’t just tents, they are wind-resistant and heat-deflecting pods with cushy artificial grass floors to keep you comfy all weekend. It’s a much more intimate experience as it’s smaller than a RV but it definitely gives you that magic element of camping when you’re sleeping in a tent.
Public Shower Facilities & Restrooms
There are multiple shower facilities and restrooms located within the event grounds. Camp EDC does a great job of keeping these spaces clean. I will say that at times the lines for showers can be painfully long and standing with your toiletries in the hot sun isn’t fun. Be prepared for these circumstances or be willing to adjust your shower times if you plan on camping in a tent or in an RV without water.
*The Mesa*
At the heart of camp EDC you will find the Mesa – a bustling, central hub where all the good stuff is located. This is a great place to make new friends and enjoy some fun, unique opportunities!
Food
What is the most important part of any party, festival or vacation? Food! There were so many yummy vendors located in the mesa. You’ve got everything from Indian fare to breakfast all day, and Barcelona street food to famers market produce. The options were vast and the food was delicious. Although, like any large event, be prepared to shell out those dollars! Even a breakfast burrito was near $18! (Worth it 😉 )
Merchandise
Forgot your toothbrush? Sunscreen? Or maybe you ran out of snacks? Don’t worry… head on over to the merchandise tent where they’ve got it all waiting for you. Of course you will also find some sweet, exclusive EDC merch making it easy to take back to your tent/RV as opposed to carrying it around the festival all night.
The Oasis Pool Party
One of the highlights of each day is the afternoon pool party! A social, fun, wet and wild extravaganza with some headlining DJs giving you exclusive access to some extra EDC fun! Grab a cold beverage and hang out in the pool before things get crazy or jump in with the crowds and join in as the dancing/water splashing craziness ensues. No doubt one of the most fun activities of the weekend!
Workshops
My favorite part of the entire camp EDC experience was the workshops and classes they offered each day. Totem making, energy alchemy, chakra meditation, hula hoop, Vinyasa flow yoga, kandi making, goat yoga (so cool it’s worth mentioning twice) and SO much more. How rad, right?!
The classes are held in three massive, community tents located in the mesa. Check out the schedule of events, make your own itinerary and hop from tent to tent as you immerse yourself in the enlightening goodness offered to you each day.
Extra Awesomeness
The Mesa is also includes art installations, a roller skating rink and a station where you can send post cards from camp EDC free of charge!
Free filtered water refills, charging stations, a medical center and campus security are on-site and available 24 hours a day. Camp EDC is workin’ hard to keep you safe and healthy!
Festival Access
Possibly the biggest perk to the edition of onsite camping at Electric Daisy Carnival is festival access. The festival gates were a THREE minute walk from our RV. You’re welcome to go in and out between the festival and the campgrounds as much as you like during the operating hours of the event as long as you’re wearing the appropriate wristband. Forgot something at the campsite? Don’t want to carry something around the festival? Feel like you can’t stay awake all night? Camp EDC is just a short walk away!

Camp EDC, from my experience, is by far the most convenient option for accommodation at Electric Daisy Carnival but MORE IMPORTANTLY, it further immerses you in the magic of the weekend. The community brought together by this unique event is full of genuine, kind and exceptional humans! Some of my most treasured memories have taken place under the electric sky and being part of Camp EDC really added to that magic.
